So PW added that on TV ... just to be newsy, or say he's religious, or likes the pledge of allegiance, or what?

I'm sorry, I missed something here...Paul added "Under God" on TV? What was he on TV for? And did he add it to the pledge or something else?

Sorry, it was back when he was doing the rounds on the late night shows for Stereo/Mono. I forget which song, at the end he just said quietly "Under God." It was when the case that's now in the Supreme Court was first in the news. I later read something that said he's religious and that's why he said that.

It was Conan O'Brien. The one tv show he did wearing normal clothes. Did he seem really nervous during that performance, more that the other late-night shows?

That was my favorite performance of his from the three late night shows he did. I thought he seemed more reflective and reserved than nervous.
As far as the "under God" thing, perhaps he was just responding to a courts ruling that was the big news at that time that said the pledge was unconstitutional (something like that....any way you get the drift, right?)?

I agree with the topical slant - didn't he also mention Joey and Dee Dee during one of the performances?

I don't know if I'd call them "normal clothes," since it was obviously a Woody Guthrie/Bob Dylan costume. The song was "We May Be the Ones." Normal in respect to the painted, duct taped outfits he sported on the other late-night shows. That one suit reminds me too much of an art project from pre-school. We carved designs into a potato (knife play, always encouraged in 4-year-olds) and stamped it, dipped in poster paint, onto a white t-shirt. I think we wore them for some assembly where we sang, "Pickin' up paw-paws, put 'em in a basket.." To this day I still have no idea what a paw-paw is.

Clearly, kgp, a paw-paw is smaller than a basket. ;D
