Not a poll because there's not enough of 'em that I know of, and I don't know how many people have heard more than one (I haven't).
A list of PW-penned or co-penned songs on other artists' releases:
- "Backlash" with Joan Jett - "We Are the Normal" for the Goo Goo Dolls - "Stranger" with Johnette Napolitano for her band Pretty And Twisted
Any others, not counting of course Mats songs he shared credit on?

Ryan Adams Firecracker? Sorry, it's just too easy for the snarky answers here.

"We Are The Normal" is a good song. I know it's not popular to like GGD around here, but it's a good song. In all fairness though, I've not heard the other two.

I gotta go with We Are The Normal. I like the Goos and this is an excellent song.

Caroline, I'm glad I'm not the only one in that likes the goos. That's how I got into PW!

I think that whole "SuperStar Carwash" album is great. I loved that and the other one before it. I think it was called "Hold Me Up" and it had a great ballad on that called "2 Days in February" and it also had a great cover of Prince's "Never Take the Place of Your Man". I don't much care for the new Goo Goos but I won't knock them because I think they've earned their success. Those first 2 albums are their most "Replacement" like and I love them. I was barely into Westerberg when I saw that he co-wrote "We Are the Normal" and that is what pushed me along to my love of him and The Replacements. So I'm with you all the way mattweiser "king of beers and log in names". Oh, so my answer is, obviously, "We Are the Normal".

Caroline, I'm glad I'm not the only one in that likes the goos. That's how I got into PW! The Goos got me into Paul and the Replacements, too. I'm a late comer in that respect (I listened to classical music during the 80s and early 90s). I still like them as a band (although the last CD was kinda weak even for me) and I love SCW & ABNG the best. I still go to their concerts. I managed to see them front row center at the 9:30 Club here in DC last March and it was the best performance of theirs I've seen - they even met people after the show. I saw them perform Normal during the last tour and it still holds up well.

this is turning into a gooey thread.... (Christy? ) I've seen em twice. Once when name was just hitting and they looked like linebackers HUGE I tell ya and they were pretty damn weak... they laughed their way through the set.. especially name... saw them this year (free tickets I swear) and the (only) 2 songs that worth the price of admission were we are the normal, and sympathy.. just him and his guitar and it was really really good....
