There's an antiwar rally this weekend. How would this be for a sign:
"All for Nothing/Nothing for All"
profound, I know. Plus I'd probably meet some Mats fans.

"well, they've finally got some war to mame us" Might be too obscure? And yeah, its not a lyric thread, and I don't think mame is in the song, but works better at a rally!

"All for Nothing/Nothing for All" speaking of nothing for all "there's a war raging outside i hope my grass stays green"

I don't believe Paul was in REM; Please stop twisting lyrics for such unrelated topics/causes.

clayaiken, try independent, so please refrain from trying to know me. We tend to get a bit imaginative with lyrics, and Paul never ventured into that arena (I think someone take the wheel and bastards of young are quite a stretch) Besides, Paul is probably a bit more conservative than he'd lead you to believe...

From many an experience as a moderator on a hockey related BB...nothing will get a thread hitting rock bottom through flames and personal attacks like politics so anyone who wants debate should move that over to the Misc BB.
That said....
I always liked the line of
Smoke cigerette butts from your brothers green helmet that he wore in that war once where everyone lost and they taught him to pour coffee and napalm traded his storm for an intense calm that just won't let him be

Yeah, that line from "We May Be The Ones" is an excellent line. I am fairly certain that this thread was started with humorous intentions. The Replacements never made a political statement. They were not Husker Du or The Minutemen. That was one of many reasons I like them and got fed up with U2 and REM in the late 80's.

For some reason this thread reminds me of the DVD when Paul says, rather sarcastically, "Nothing like the Nation's capitol to bring out the best in a man." Thank God the Replacements never turned into U2 or R.E.M. but they were always a bit "anti-establishment". (Anti-whatever anyone else told them really ;D)

Couldnt agree more with the others....thank god the Mats and PW never did anything political. Nothing worse then millionaire celebs talking politics IMO.
