ONCE AROUND THE WEEKEND (ALTERNATIVE MIX)
I stay in every night of the week They try but I won't speak To be my friends You'll see me once I'm on the mend Oh man once around the weekend Oh man once around the weekend
I watch myself fall apart I watch the rabbits in my yard There goes another round the bend I gotta sweep this floor again Oh man once around the weekend Oh man once around the weekend (play it up!?)
[spoken:] You know I stay in Five, six, sometimes seven days a week But every so often I get that itch and that urge To go chasing that rabbit Go chasin' that long black hair
Oh man once around the weekend Oh man once around the weekend
Well I won't go out to relax And if you look hard you might see my tracks They call and try and be my friends I gotta sweep this floor again Oh man Oh man
Based on The Skyway Eventually transcription by Elizabeth S., kathms, sharonh540, srae, zelig1. All that's new lyricswise is the spoken part.

I hear it as a pun, and he's not really tempted to be chasing a long black hare, but a woman with long black hair.
I think its a little wink, ala norwegian wood.

For some reason that hair/hare part reminded me of Chestnut Mare by The Byrds.
