I'm blinded What a day for a night I’m finding The way around in morning’s light What a day for a night... What a day for a night
I’m winding Through the streets, through the towns I’m finding Good morning boys, good night gowns Sunset toys sundown clowns What a day for a night now
When we play it’s alright What a day for a night
Solo
When we play, it’s alright What a day for a night
So I’m moving Beneath my feet it just feels right I’m used to it I hop aboard another flight No end in sight On and on we play, alright.
What a day, what a day for a night

Cool! As always, since it's so hard to make Paul's lyrics out, I gotta couple of different hearings on this one, other's thoughts, Bueller, anyone?
A blind day I got "I'm blinded"
Good morning boys, good night gals I got "...goodnight gowns"
k.

Yeah, I thought he said gowns at first. And blinded makes much more sense, haha. Edited both lines. I was trying to get some other songs down but oh my god he is really hard to decipher

I'm really loving this song (and My Daydream). It reminds me of something that I can't put my finger on - 60s Brit pop? Something - I'll think of it soon.

I vote for good night gals It adds symetry and sense to the good morning boys line.

True enough, it doesn't fit the rhyme pattern of the other verses, but did he really find some good night gowns? Doesn't make any sense to me that we was looking out for gowns, instead of gals! I'd like to think the writer found some guys to hang with in the AM, and some gals to hang with in the PM! Maybe its my own biases?

Given his recent interest in ballerinas, we're just lucky he didn't say tutus.

I thought Paul was singing "I wade around in morning's light" & "I'm half aboard another flight".

I thought Paul was singing "I wade around in morning's light" & "I'm half aboard another flight". Actually it's, "I'm finding my way around in morning's light." It helps if you read both lines as one complete thought. This I've found is the key to deciphering a lot of Paul's lyrics. We tend to want to isolate each line and pick it apart, but the meaning only becomes clear when you read it all in context. Oh, and I've always heard it as "I hop aboard another flight."

Thanks. I listened again and I was totally wrong. I wish Paul would do a book of his lyrics.

After about 6 months of hearing "good night gals" I listened with headphones and absolutely got "good night gowns". fuck me.
On a brighter note I think I may have solved the rat's brain mystery:
From Warning: Psychiatry Can Be Hazardous To Your Mental Health by William Galsser MD: (p.25)
"They use rats because the only accurate way to determine serotonon levels in any brain is to grind it up and assay the ground up material."
