It's not a music college, though S. Malkmus went to school there.
It is Thomas Jefferson's college and it tends to be filled to the brim with well dressed preppy republican kids who got good grades in High School.
It is a really pretty place, but the students tend to hug one.

I used to be embarassed by the horrible music reviews I wrote in college, but now I feel much better.
Also I kinda like "Centerfold."

After mulling it over a little, I think this is actually one of the more ... what's the word I'm searching for ... trenchant? reviews of Folker.
It speaks to and for the vast majority of the listening population who only pick up the most widely broadcast of PW's output, by chance, in a movie, or on some stray radio play.
And for those people, "Dyslexic Heart" and the Singles soundtrack probably is the last thing they heard from Paul Westerberg.
And on those terms, she's right: as a pop song "As Far As I Know" does blow "Dyslexic Heart" out of the water. If that's your reference point, this would be a welcome if somewhat mystifying album. But even from the point of view of a Paul Bearer, it gives you some idea of how he's grown, to skip over all the solo albums and just compare Singles to Folker.
