From Peter's Best of 2003 on his website: www.tt.net/mcool/jesperson.html12. Paul Westerberg - Come Feel Me Tremble Grandpaboy - Dead Man Shake In a general way, I love them both. If you wanna get specific, I think Paul needs an editor. Each contains some fantastic material alongside weak and/or unfinished stuff. Either way, four albums in a row of crude recordings on which Paul plays all the instruments stretches the concept a little thin. Having said that, "Dirty Diesel," "My Daydream," "What A Day (For A Night)" and "Meet Me Down The Alley" knock my socks off. The cover of "These Days" is pretty revelatory. And, as with Stereo/Mono, he's doing some of the best singing of his career.

He's right about Paul needing an editor. Jesperson wouldn't be a bad choice actually. Who usually acts as an act's editor: the manager? the producer? the bandmates? the fans?
Does anyone think Paul took a little lead from what Ryan Adams was doing, and saying he would do (release tons of material over tons of albums in a short span of time)?

Usually the producer would act as editor, I think...or the girlfriend...
The difference, I think is that Ryan Adams has about 10 albums worth of stuff recorded that he keeps threatening to release as well...if anybody needs an editor, it's him....I don't think Paul is quite so prolific, or he edits himself better at least...
