Hit-and-miss compilation of the post-Replacements years
Attempting to cover all Westerberg bases from 1992 onwards is commendable but ultimately flawed. The 1993 debut 14 Songs and Eventually ('96), both strangely adrift in Petty/Mellencamp heartland rock, are liberally plundered here, but 1999's classic Suicaine Gratifaction gets short shrift (only 'It's a Wonderful Life' (sic) and 'Lookin' Out Forever'). Ditto the Grandpaboy records and 2002's Stereo. For completists, though, the addition of three unreleased rarities--an alternate mix of 'Once Around the Weekend' and Eventually outtakes 'C'mon, C'mon, C'mon' and' All That I Had', the latter a genuine lost treasure--make this essential.
