I dont mind having these PW reviews posted, it is interesting to read what other people think of Paul's work BUT why are many of us getting offended at the bad reviews ? Why is there a need to write the editor demanding retraction ? People ! everyone has different tastes, everyone is different and distinct and more than likely wants things done a different way than you think it should be. Take a page out of Paul's book and do not care ! Paul trusts his fans to have the ability to sift through the BS and like what they like without prejudice or at least having to rely on a critic's review.

I think Westerberg if could shit Jesuses some critics would just complain about the smell, and I think it's only fair they should be called on it if these mags have a letters page. Opinions may vary but all should be heard. A good editor thrives on disagreement.

Visibility always spawns criticism, and Vagrant records is certainly no exception. Many have argued via fanzines and list serves that the label is becoming too big for its britches, signing acts only for their marketability. One vocal opponent of Egan's bands in the notoriously frank website Buddyhead (www.buddyhead.com). A few noted barbs:
"As we told you just a while ago, Paul Westerberg (you know, the guy from the Replacements who is now old and on Emotaph) has signed away his life and given his soul to the Devil. Yeah, he's on Vagrant now."
"Word on the street is that Vagrant Records added yet another shitty band to their roster, Hey Mercedes has jumped ship from Polyvinyl over into evil emo land."
