Paul Westerberg, can you write us a song?
I am a professor of counseling at Northern Illinois University and a longtime Replacements fan. Paul, we need you. Can you please write us a song of healing?

That's a touching and heartfelt request, somosuno. PW has mostly seemed to disinclined to do benefits and write topical songs, but you never know. I imagine particularly those in your field at your campus bear extra responsibilities or burdens after the horrible attack on your campus. Here's a fellow Mats fan hoping you do find a way to heal, maybe in the music you already have. I don't suppose it's particularly healing but "The Ledge" seems to resonate. It's probably too early yet for "Good Day" to soothe. "Hold My Life"? "Breathe Some New Life"?

The Replacements actually played at NIU back in 1985. They played in the Duke Ellington Ballroom at 2pm on Good Friday, admission was either $1 or $2. Some guys I know say Paul showed up later that night at a party looking for weed. I never thought PW was a big pothead, so I'm a bit skeptical of the last part.

Indeed, maybe it's already there in the music you have.
Here in the DC area, lots families have relatives that go to Virginia Tech. The school isn't really in the metro area but a lot of people feel it is just thru that connection. So that tragedy resonated pretty strongly here. I hope that all you folks at NIU find a way to heal quickly and to get thru the shock of this horrible incident.
