What to expect? That is my question. It's safe to say he's favoring his rhythm hand, understandably so. Instinctivly that makes me think ballads, possibly longer songs. More piano, perhaps. But the best part of not knowing what to expect is not knowing what to expect.
and as a side-note..'mats/PW fans almost aways seem to to be 'nice people'. Happy Holidays to all the nice people.

I don't know what to expect, but I know what I want: an album recorded fully in a studio with His Only Friends. I'm a bit tired of basement recordings with Paul's horrible drumming.

I'd sort of think he's had a back log of material to choose from if he chooses not to turn into the label anything current, given his hand injury. I'd like to hear some better drumming and better recorded drums too.

tough call. i'd like to here something a little more produced but not polished. bottom line is Paul doesn't disappoint. sometimes some of the tracks that take longer to get used to are the ones that usually end up as favorites.

He's still listed on the Vagrant site as an artist. No word on any new releases on that front.
I agree with the opinion that something with a full abnd would be a great change..
even if he reorded it live a la Frank Blacks mid 90's stuff.. Cult of ray & Frank Black & the Catholics... no real overdubs

Hey....I strongly believe Pauls best solo material (on all levels) is his more recent basement stuff. Please don't ever go back to the major label studio glossiness. However, if he were to go back into an actually studio, he would only be allowed to bring His Only Friends with him, because they could do it right.

well, i wouldn't want him to go back to a glossy major label "let's add in some more chorus and some more reverb and blah blah blah" stuff.
I just want his drumming to be better RECORDED. I love the electric version of Crackle and Drag but his drums sound so washed out. His cymbals sound like he's hitting the side of a grocery cart or something. And yeah, his drum fills could be better---so that's why I wouldn't mind if someone else drums for him. But hey, it is what it is. It's the basement.

I agree, that's why just banging it out live in a studio, live to tape(or to pro tools...NOT TRYING TO INSIGHT AUDIOPHILE RIOT) just a few takes & get the best one & MAYBE an overdub here & there... Just a better sonic situation...
