This letter to the editor about the Walsh book from a Static Taxi band member got me thinking about Bob, esp. this part: No one can touch Westerberg's genius songs, in particular those about lovable losers with hearts of gold. To me at least, Bob was that "character" personified.

i used to have the static taxi release "stinson boulevard" some years back. i remember sort of hating it. i THINK i still have a song or two on a mixtape or something.
i saw bob perform with the magnolias in the early 90s, and that was super duper awesome.

I went to see Dog994(was that the name?) at Phyliss's in Chicago but Bob didn't make the trip. That must have been late '94- early '95. Isn't there a record out there with both Bob and Cheetah Chrome on it? The Magnolias were great.

My wife tracked down a copy of Stinson Blvd. for me a Christmas or two ago. Maybe the most thoughtful gift I've ever received.

Is the Static Taxi Cd worth the effort of finding? Putting aside the obvious "Replacements curiosity" factor, is it any good?

I have three post-Mats Bob related CDs. Static Taxi put out both Closer 2 Normal and Stinson Blvd. Bob also appeared with a band called Shotgun Rationale on an album entitled Beyond Rebellion. None of these are all that great. I just own them because I consider myself a completest. Am I missing any other Bob related stuff?

Saw the Bleeding Hearts open for Tommy (when his band was Bash 'N' Pop) at the Entry ...

A friend of mine just bought me a copy of Static Taxi's "Closer 2 Normal" off of Amazon. Pretty crappy stuff, I'm afraid. I'm glad I never tracked it down myself and paid for it. I kept wondering how strung out Bob might have been (if at all) during each song.
