^ That one makes me shudder. As much as I usually enjoy the imperfect "rock n' roll" performance, that one makes me cringe every time.
EDIT: Hmmmm...watching it back again it's actually not as bad as I remember it.

I'm all for PW's appearance in '96 on the Gary Shandling Show. Sure it was brief, and interrupted, but Paul looked great, and so did the band.

EDIT: Hmmmm...watching it back again it's actually not as bad as I remember it. i'm glad you edited that. i really like that performance. it was a little sloppy, but it had all the right parts in mostly all the right places. and you can't beat the wardrobe... paul's performance of "as far as i know" on that other late show was a true trainwreck, in my opinion. as for paul on gary shandling, i would LOVE to see it. i never watched that show, but if there is a clip somewhere....

I've loved them all, but 'Let The Bad Times Roll' on Leno and 'We May Be The Ones' on Conan in 2002 are two personal faves.

Watching all of these at once, I'm shocked by how memorable they all are. Even the ones that are a trainwreck are absolutely thrilling stuff. Maybe especially the ones that are a trainwreck.

That I can definitely agree with.

Seeing these makes me think that Tommy Keene's had a fun run. I think today's fantasy tour will be PW and Bob Pollard together, with Mr. Keene playing in both bands. Would be a blast.

btw, thanks, abnp, for the vids of "ain't got me". it is fun seeing paul on the larry sanders show, but i agree that the leno version is better. seems more fiery. anyway, thanks again for the sanders bit. i had never seen it before.
next silly question, does anyone remember the rumor, or if in fact it happened, paul's appearance on "homocide: life on the street"?
