Mine would have to be the guitar in High Time off of Mono. I'd kill for that sound...

Bob's "0-100mph, close your eyes and floor it" guitar solo from Gimme Noise may be the single best piece of guitar thrash I have ever heard. Especially after Paul yells "GIVE IT TO ME!!!!!"

This is PTMM-centric but the note bending in Valentine is tried and true followed by the purely rock and roll, loud and proud fuzzed out Chuck Berry solo in Red Red Wine are first to come to mind. The opening to Everything Goes Wrong is also killer.

I love the guitar sound of Eyes Like Sparks. He never duplicated that playing live though.

I love the guitar sound of Eyes Like Sparks. He never duplicated that playing live though. We have a winner! That's some great tone he gets on that one. The killer riff doesn't hurt the cause either.

Mine would have to be the guitar in High Time off of Mono. I'd kill for that sound... I've never thought about Westerberg really in terms of guitar sound. I think he's a great player and gets good sound in general. I might come up with others if I listened to them all tonight, but off the top of my head... PW - Angels Walk (unfortunately, I think he forgot he wrote this) Mats - Answering Machine Modification #1 - solo on Baby Learns to Crawl

Yeah, I love this sound also. It's so thick and messy.

PW - Angels Walk (unfortunately, I think he forgot he wrote this) Mats - Answering Machine i will second both of these. i have long declared my love for "angels walk", and i am glad you brought it up. and "answering machine" is so cutting. love it. allow me to add (from another thread on guitar solos), the solo for "runaway wind".

I'd like also add the sound from "Everything Goes Wrong", which, like High Time is played on a Telecaster Thinline. I'm going to have to get one of those some day...

For Westerberg's solo platters, I'd have to go with Mr. Rabbit first, off the top of my head, and Gun Shy coming in a close second. I think his weird tunings make most of his greatest sounds. I'd love to know more about them.

Most of "Come Feel Me Tremble". Such a heavy, raw tone. I'd love to be able to get this. Anyone have any pointers?
