Great, great show last night @ the Middle East in Cambridge. You Am I had a lot of energy and they were fun to watch!! Pretty sparse crowd. Tim came on first, played a few acoustic songs and then the band joined him onstage. Very entertaining show. They played most of Convicts including "I'm a Mess" (which I didn't see on any previous set list). The Smoking Popes singer joined them onstage for a loud and fast cover of The Who's "Can't Explain".
Don't miss these guys...very cool.

you know? i have their album from a few years back called "sound as ever", and i really don't like it all that much. i listened to the amazon samples for their new one, "convicts", and i am shocked by how much better it sounds to me than the earlier album i own. perhaps i should give them another shot. That was their first CD. do you listen to them a lot? i ask because i wonder if i am correct in the assumption that "convicts" is a lot better than the one i have. "sound as ever" may be a victim of its time. i think it came out in the early 19grungies, and it shows... or sounds on the album. there is a baaaaad guitar fx pedal used throughout the album. one that makes the guitars sound "heavy". the new one just sounds more honest in its approach. i like the samples i have heard a lot. From a You Am I board: got another note from my friend: PS - Tim autographed a couple of cd's for me last night....I didn't read until we were in the car headed home....he had inscribed "Sound as Ever" with, "This blows. Tim Rogers"
