Aww, I want to go back in time and buy him a copy so he don't have to wait five years.
Then I want to go forward in time and give him a whole bag of commas and dashes.

I think waiting to hear it might actually have made it better and more personal for the writer. One of the nice things about the web is the easy availability of obscure music; however, what's lost is the thrill of reading about a band and after years of looking for a tape or album finally getting to hear them. I know, I sound like an old curmudgeon, "back in my day we had to walk for days to buy an album" but there is something lost with the easy access.

Decent read, but approaching "Let It Be" with the "teen angst/memories from the pimplehood days" angle is getting kind of tired by this point. The record can't be THAT one dimensional, can it? I always felt like it was one of PW's most personal records (or so it seems that way) and that it spoke more about how he felt at 23. Even "Sixteen Blue" is sung from the point of view of a guy who's left his adolesence far behind him.

i agree. i gave a copy to my sister for her birthday last year (she turned fourteen then), with a note, wherein i talked about how she might not appreciate or get the record the first few times she listens to it, but it will open itself up for her a little bit every time she listens to it. it's not a one-dimensional dashboard confessional record or something; it takes time and investment, but it pays off huge. i still get new things from it now, eight years after i first heard it, and 23 after it was released.
