"When someone sees our band I want them to feel the way I did when I saw the Replacements in High School" This is what Craig Finn said in the new Rolling Stone. He's the lead singer of the Hold Steady. His favorite album of all time is Let It Be. If you have not listened to The Hold Steady's new album "Boys and Girls In America" over and over and over again you should be extremely ashamed of yourself. It continually suprises me how many people don't seem to know about this band so check it...

Craig is my new God! I saw them at First Ave Tuesday night. It was amazing. I've seen them on every tour and this was the best. It's the greatest show I've ever seen. I love how much they love performing. They were so happy 'cause this was their first time selling out First Ave. He talked about the Twins, his first First Ave show(Violent Femmes), his second and third shows (First two nights of the 'Mats and 7th st.). There were two encores it was just amazing! There was a video crew there, so hopefully there will be a DVD release soon. I'm leaving MPLS next week and this was the best send off I could have. Can you tell I loved it!

He talked about the Twins Really? That's so two-and-a-half weeks ago. I'm leaving MPLS next week and this was the best send off I could have. Don't leave, Grickle!

i was supposed to go last night, but i completely forgot. i honestly have no excuse. i really just forgot.
so, i am just getting into the hold steady with the album "separation sunday". i describe them thusly:
sounds like the murder city devils playing the black crowes.
and i mean that in the best possible sense because 'separation sunday' is growing on me in a big way.

Don't you think Seperation Sunday is just a whole lot better than the new one?
Because I'm not a fan of that "Born to Run" Springsteen sound.

Don't you think Seperation Sunday is just a whole lot better than the new one? HELL YES. Whenever I express any kind of disappointment in the new Hold Steady album, I get some smacked laid on me. I'm digging it and all, but it's not the same sort of swift intake of breath, gasp of delight that I got when I first heard SS. you know? When I listened to Boys and Girls in America, I was all, 'yeah it's the hold steady. it's good and all.' I guess you can only be brand new once.

He talked about the Twins Really? That's so two-and-a-half weeks ago. He's a huge Twins fan that lives in NY. He was saying how silly it was their media gave the Twins no coverage (Batting title, MVP canidate, Cy Young winner (probably)) and how happy they made him this year.I'm leaving MPLS next week and this was the best send off I could have Don't leave, Grickle! I'm going to GA for a couple of years to work with troubled kids. I need a break from the MN winters for a while. I'll be back. I love it here too much. Don't you think Seperation Sunday is just a whole lot better than the new one? Because I'm not a fan of that "Born to Run" Springsteen sound. I never got into SS that much. I like the sound of Almost Killed Me and the new one better. The anthems are what get me. I'm not all that concerned with the story of SS so that's probably where it didn't hook me.

I like em all. Boys And Girls In America more so. SS is like a Scorsese film and Boys & Girls is like a Cameron Crowe film. It sounds a hell of a lot like Bruce and I don't even like him, their version is much better.
Here's to the Hold Steady being the opening band for the Mats reunion!

I just listened to "Stuck between Stations" 3 times in a row and it reminds me of Bruce Springstein Meets Bob Mould.
