Hope the faith-full don't stone me on this one...
I'm not sure how people feel about the album cover, but I'd rather have non-cartoon album art for "Open Season". Yes, I know that the music was composed for the animated film, but I'd rather have something different for at least my iPod. And I think the album title "Open Season" works just fine---just not so much the cartoon stuff.
Has anyone considered doing this? If so--what'd you come up with?
Post it in this thread?
I throw this challenge down because I am far from a graphic designer--not even on a novice level. Would love some assistance.
Anybody want to pick up the gauntlet?
By the way, I'm with cootner with making an alternate "Open Season" as a combination of the original soundtrack, 10", and the newly recorded Replacements songs for the recent greatest hits.

I think it's a great idea. Here's something I did fairly quickly. It's not really "done", but it's got potential. I scanned Paul in from an old 'zine cover. I think it was Spin. It's one of my favorite pics of PW. Should work on a small scale for yer iPod at least. home.comcast.net/~mcpollick/pw_os_cov1.jpgTWANGGG!!! -Dewey

Nice work, Dewey. For the other side, I kind of like the 10" Lost Highway LP cover (as opposed to the official CD cover), where the animals mostly make themselves scarce leaving the tree and two "hand-carved" signs: "Paul Westerberg" on top and "Songs from Open Season" below. There's plenty of room to put a track list there on either side of the tree, if you're not concerned about disturbing the CG habitat. www.musicdirect.com/images/LOSTH/LLH8614_LG.jpg

Well, you indirectly raise an interesting question which might be worth discussing....Do these songs hold up outside of the context of the movie? Put another way, when Westerberg finally gets around to another tour, would you want him to play these songs? In my mind the songs are tightly tied to the movie so I am fine with the existing cover art.. CF
