The MWT site gets a couple citations. We should see a spike in members here, esp. among the spikey-haired kids that the Wall Street Journal figures are PW fans.
Since "Good Day" is the original version, the publishing credits are Paul's. Does that mean he'll get more royalties than on the songs he wrote under contract for the movie? Smart move, if so.
On a side note, would Sony's share on the publishing rights to the Open Season songs limit Paul's ability to release the 20 or so outtake songs? Will we ever hear the Resterberg of the story?

Generally speaking, royalties on soundtracks are higher than on regular releases.

Yeah....has anybody heard the Nick Lowe story? Somebody covered "Peace, Love and Understanding" on the Bodyguard soundtrack. It ended up selling 10 million copies and Nick became a millionaire.

I thought it was more like 20 million. Re: liner notes Liner notes would have been nice. (I guess liner notes are of little importance on a soundtrack to animated movie.) A little cartoon Paul would have been cute, too.

In that case it's too bad "Treatment Bound" didn't make it onto the "Jackass 2" soundtrack CD.

According to the liner notes, on the Tommy & Paul songs ("Love You In The Fall" & "Right To Arm Bears"), it lists "Gersh" not Josh Freese as the drummer. This is the same Gersh that was in Perfect with Tommy?
I thought this was interesting....

I just got the CD and was surprised see the name "Gersh" on there... Are you saying he is credited in error? If true, then instead of Replacements reunion it's actually a Perfect reunion! CF

I'm pretty sure that Tommy says so in one of the Rhino podcast interviews. Or something.

in fact tommy mentions that gersh was in the midst of building a studio in the house they live in, so maybe they just went over to their place and cut the tracks...i believe it is the same line up for wild as i wanna be...the bass is just too damn drivin and hopin not to be tommy....

From the full Rocky Mtn. News interview: Did you retain the rights to the stuff they didn't use? "No. Probably because the ones I gave them were mostly not-so-good. (Laughs). Crap, so to speak. I don't care. I'm prolific enough. I defy them if I lift a chorus from something that wasn't used for them to come and sue me. For what I went through for them..."

he can still play them live if he wants, or get somebody (who actually has a computer) to leak them on the internet.......

He'd have more problems re-recording this material if he was a platinum selling artist. It's doubtful that anybody would even notice if he just made some minor changes.
Yet, the fact that the soundtrack's on Lost Highway makes me wonder if there's a chance for a deal with them? They seem like the perfect major label subsidiary for him...although then he'd be on the same label as Ryan Adams (not that there's anything wrong with that).
