I'm sitting on the can leafing through the latest EW and came across a story about potential replacements for Katie Couric (obviously written before Meredith Vierra was chosen). Accompanying the story was four photos with odds of being chosen. Vierra was listed at 1 - 5, Keannu Reeves at 1,000 - 1, and our pal Paul at infinity - 1. I laughed.

Normally I would say that you'd picked the appropriate place to read Entertainment Weekly. But if someone on staff knows enough to work Paul into an article like that, then my opinion of EW has just improved 300 percent.

Speaking of punching someone out, does anyone recall a story about Paul being invited on to Ghost Planet? I remember hearing a story from the creators who said that Paul didn't quite understand the interview process, that someone read him these inane questions which was for the animated part of the show and it's supposed to be comical. But having someone reading these questions to him, rather than the cartoon characters, threw him off or something. Supposedly Paul got fed up by the questioning and said, "F* ck you, assh*le" and got up and left.
Paul would eviscerate Matt Lauer within a minute of air time! ;D

That's pretty accurate. I think that story is archived somewhere online. Like here: The New York Daily News reported that ex-Replacement Paul Westerberg stormed out of Turner studios late last month after he became annoyed with the directions given to him by writers for the show Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Westerberg had just been asked to "talk" to Zorak, Spacey's disgruntled bandleader, when according to executive producer Mike Lazzo, "He took his mic off and said, 'that's it!'" ...

I think that story is archived somewhere online. It also comes up in a couple interviews with the Space Ghost guys: --- Q. Is it true you're going to be working on a project with your recent guest, Beck? A. Y'know, Beck and I are gonna have to do something, yeah. Either that or Paul Westerberg, who's such a huge fan of the show. ---- What's the most painful interview you've ever done? DAVE: Paul Westerberg, from what was once a cool band, the Replacements. I mean, he just didn't get it, and I didn't explain it very well, and I think he thought that I made this reference to "Kick the Can", the childhood game. I think it was a reference to his past alcoholism or something, but… either way, he said some very unprintable things, and pulled his mike off and took off. That was a really embarrassing moment for me professionally. That would be it, definitely.

Ahhh, excellent. Thanks for calling stuff up out of the archives. But if Paul gets ol' Granpaboy to emerge for Space Ghost, can you imagine what he'd do to Matt Lauer?
