From Big Takeover #51, around the time of the in-store tour. (Jack Rabid-interviewer)
JR: "Yeah, Headline News. I saw that! You did a little "Let the Bad Times Roll". I was pretty shocked when that came on my screen, right after an item about Enron!"
PW: "They told me that they now have installed a Westerberg clause at CNN: from now on the artist will play the song first before the interview. Because what they didn't show was, they cut me off during the first half of the song, and I f*cking flipped and I just said, "f*ck you!" and threw the things down. They called security and it was so bad, even Larry King came out of his room."
Did anybody actually see this? The first time I heard about it was that interview. How much "tantrum" (if any) was actually shown?

None of the tantrum was shown. They just cut to commercial partway through the song. Paul must not watch CNN because they do this with all the musical guests. Nobody gets to play an entire song.

I remember watching a DVD, of one of the in-stores (I think it was the Ameoba instore), and Paul asks the audience "Did you see me on CNN earlier?" Then he goes on to imply that it didn't go well.
