Ok, I was watching the charity concert tonight where a lot of different people played a song to raise money for the Katrina victims. Don't know if anyone else was watching but I could have sworn that Michael Bland was playing drums for the Dixie Chicks. There wasn't a lot of light on him but he looked to be about the same size and even more importantly his movements looked the same. Did anybody else see that?

I watched some of their song and didn't notice but on another board someone posted that it was Michael. And possibly Pete Buck on guitar?

All I was thinking was how amazing the band and the song was. It makes it even better if it's michaelb.

There is a connection there....dave grissom is the musical director for the dixie chicks, and he has worked some in the past with Kevin Bowe, who we know has also worked with MichaelB.
My guess is that Dave assembled a band and got a hand from his friends in mpls?

from Michael's web site:
I'll be playing with the Dixie Chicks this Friday, Sept 9 for a Hurricane Katrina benefit concert. The concert will air on E!, as well as a variety of other networks at 7pm Central Time.

Will he now be boycotted by Clear Channel? ;D Only if he's lucky! I remember a few months back Clear Channel was playing commercials with Avril Levigne, Nelly, and some other nameless/faceless "star" talking about how great FM radio is and you won't hear new music from stars like them on sattelite. I went out and bought an XM tuner that night. Great investment too!

OT, sorry, but who was the bass player when Michael joined Paul for "Silent Film Star" on Letterman? Ah, trivia time.. It's been awhile since that show.. I find an interview where Paul identified him as "Jimmy Anton".....If I am not mistaken that might be Jonny Lang's bass player... Someone correct me if I am wrong. CF

Playing catch-up--not Peter Buck with the Chicks...looked like Mike Campbell on guitar to me.
Too bad all of the musicians didn't follow Robert Randolph's lead--Michael should've had a big, bad MICHAEL BLAND painted on his kit.
