I really like Ryan Adams' music. You can defitely hear the Mats in some of his stuff (the entire Rock'n'Roll album especially). I saw him in Louisville a few weeks after Paul played here and there were a lot of PW shirts in the audience. His personality doesn't exactly seem like its real wonderful or anything but he is damn talented.

ok, here's the thing. in my opinion, his best stuff is some stuff that hasn't been released. destroyer, fucker, forever valentine all have great tracks on them....but most people (unless they are already a fan) haven't heard this.
pm me if you want me to send you a copy of any of those things and you can judge for yourself.

i will personally vouch for christy's collection of unheard adams music.
the guy needs someone to tell him what to officially release; because much of the time he makes the wrong choices.

Ryan Adams is a musical genius but incredibly f**d up. After seeing him in concert in June, where he rambled and shaked(like an aspen) his way through the sets I'd say he is a train wreck waiting to happen.

I've barely given Ryan Adams a chance. What I've heard I've liked well enough if I recall, but I don't even remember what I've listened to. So, you RA fans, where should I start? What's his best album?

Stranger's Almanac---from when he was in Whiskeytown is my recommendation.
that rocknroll (backwards) album is pretty catchy too... but the one with Come Pick Me Up (can't think of the album title) has more bite.

Adams' 'Yesterday's News' from WT Stranger's Almanac is, IMO, a tip of the hat to the Mats.
I've got a RA live acoustic version of Whiskeytown's 'Mining Town'. It's a bit sloppy but it oddly fits the song. He's accompanied by a only a steel guitar and the lyrics, well they are really brilliant.
'Cry on Demand' on Cold Roses is worth your time if you haven't heard it. When I give it a listen, I wonder if he isn't directing it at Parker Posey, his girlfriend of the past year or two. Hmmm

I liked Love Is Hell. Well, most of it anyways. This House Is Not For Sale and the song Love Is Hell are both just great.
