"We can write down our dreams and hide 'em under the bed And walk down the street with lightbulbs on our head."
Great fucking line.

I always thought it was an underappreciated gem from Suicaine. I love the way the song starts out lean, with just the piano and vocals, then works its way up to a full fledged rocker. I was kinda hoping he would play this one on this tour. Next tour he should bring some keys along, and play some of the seldom heard piano based songs, like Androgynous and Bookmark. That would be very cool indeed.

Agreed. Underrated gem. Gets better with age.

I've got strange and grandiose ideas.
May I join the club?

I've got strange and grandiose ideas. May I join the club? As long as those strange and grandiose ideas include thinking "Fugitive Kind" rules, hell yes you can.

"We can write down our dreams and hide 'em under the bed And walk down the street with lightbulbs on our head." Great f*cking line. SCOOTER BHAY HOLLABACK I love this line. It brings to mind coal wokers with lights on their hats to lead the way or a cartoon lightbulb drawn over the head to indicate a bright idea.

Fantastic song. One of my favorites. And the fact that it's got Dave Pirner on background vocals is, in my opinion, a bonus.

I'm listening to Say What You Will right now, did Pirner really do background vocals on Fugitive Kind? Absolutely! He sings the repeated "Runa runa runa run away with me." It's Pirner and a female singer (I forget who... sorry). Funny you mention "Say What You Will..." I was cranking that in my lab today and everyone seemed to be enjoying it. Not to get off track, but I could listen to "Masquerade" all day. In fact, the whole album's a winner, in my opinion. And, once again, not to get too far off topic, but I know that Michael Bland is now officially Soul Asylum's drummer. But given Karl Mueller's health, they are inactive in term of touring. Although I think they've been in the studio a bit lately. Sure hope Karl is doing well.

It also brings to mind those awful Lightbulb outfits the Red Hot Chili Peppers wore at one of those Woodstock shows. Those suits are on display at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas.

Is this the song he asked the receptionist or secretary at the recording studio to sing back up because Don Was thought they needed a female voice on it? I swear I remember reading that during the press for Suicaine.

I was thinking I was the only one for a minute there. I love this song. Suicane is such a great record. I truly believe it is the most underrated album I own. I used to listen to it every morning on my headphones as I fell asleep. In fact, I think I'm going to go do that now.

Love this song too - wish he would have played it in Chicago, especially since the movie The Fugitive was set here.
