Nice, I like it. Though his hand does look freakishly large. Must be the perspective.

I wonder if it's an Anton Corbijn photo? The tint is very Corbijn-esque, but I suppose it's not really gritty enough to be him.

Nice cover...wonder where the photo was taken? Looks like a little snow in the background...
Here's a little blurb I found on amazon.com:
After the Replacements disbanded, singer-songwriter and alt-rock icon Paul Westerberg went on to an acclaimed solo career, first with two songs on the Singles: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack in 1992, and then with his revered 1993 solo debut, 14 Songs. Over the course of his subsequent albums, the legend of Westerberg's stellar songcraft and ragged and brilliant peformances grew exponentially. For the first time, highlights of his post-Replacements work-including his Grandpa Boy incarnation-are collected on a single, inspired disc, with the added bonus of three previously unissued rarities in the mix!

So damned typical. At least he wasn't filpping off the camera.
I like it.

Best solo cover art since 14 Songs, I like it.

Everyone likes it? This is a first in MWT history (yes, i know I'm speaking far too soon, but even that no one was hating on it though it's already been posted for 6 hours is a first in MWT history).

True enough, Kathy! The more I look at it, the more I like it, I gotta say...it's "perfectly Paul".

The coloring reminds me a lot of the Runaway Wind video. I don't know about the cursive writing but the picture's great.
The cursive writing of Besterberg is giving it a sort of John Tesh feel, or is that just me? Thank god the photo saves it.

There's a smiliar picture on his website of Don Van Vliet aka Captain Beefheart. Maybe it's just the hand obscuring the face. The picture is beautiful, whoever took it. I'm not to sure about the Besterberg in script at the top either. It's a little too...something.

I agree that its a great picture. I always thought the 'Runaway Wind' video looked something like a Don Henly video around the same time. 'End Of The Innocence?' Grainy, sepia-toned, never seeing the singer's face.

he looks a bit like tom waits in that pose, with that outfit. I gotta disagree with that one. Tom would never wear a suit like that and I've never seen him in one. Carry on

I've seen several different photos of Waits wearing a suit.
eta: yes, even with a dress shirt and tie.

No, it's over between us. *sniff* But when he's right he's right and I have to begrudgingly accept that.
