Paul Westerberg performing in 1993 on SNL only circulates in pitiful quality, as a 300p file with burned-in Norwegian (?) subtitles, and as a 360p file without. Both are barely viewable.
But earlier this week I found my own SuperVHS recording, recorded from the original broadcast on Dec 4, 1993. I had a pretty fancy Sony S-VHS deck (model SLV-R5UC). Therefore, depending on how the tv reception was that night, this is probably very good quality. It is very likely in HiFi stereo and very likely in SP mode. I can't verify that for sure because I no longer have a S-VHS deck. All I know for sure is my label says "Knockin' On Mine & Can't Hardly Wait, 16 min", and it is a Fuji SuperVHSPro ST-120.
I'd like to get this digitized by someone into (ideally) a ProRes video file.
After that I'd like to get the ProRes file to some people who do AI upscaling.
Does anyone know anyone who can digitize from SuperVHS? I know that SuperVHS did not really take off outside of the "prosumer" and professional market. Some people who lived through that era don't even know that SuperVHS existed.
Anyway, if you have any leads for me I'd love to hear from you.
2.
I also have a regular format VHS of a Warner Bros promo. The label reads:
THF. REPLACEMENTS
TV SPOT #1 0:30
"BASTARDS OF THE YOUNG" 3:54
"HOLD MY LIFE" 4:50
TV SPOT #2 0:30
"LEFT OF THE DIAL" 4:17
TV SPOT #3 0:30
"THE LEDGE" 4:12
FULL INTERVIEW 3:15
ABOVE-TIED
STEREO
WARNER BROS. REC-LIBRARY 08-31-87
But I may already have someone who wants to digitize it - not sure yet. It is not as much of a priority for me since their music videos sucked and they're already on YouTube, albeit not this complete package which I guess was put together to promote Pleased To Meet Me.
I'm not selling anything I am just trying to get these into the hands of the right people who can work with them. Thanks!
