Thank you so much, funker. You've obviously put a HUGE amount of work into this, and I am super-appreciative for all of it.

I've got a ton of live rarities sent my way that I'm organizing, both Paul and Mats locating the best quality / best played version will be used for songs played several times, but those only recorded once, the only existing version appear, even if rough. I had someone message me about Paul's song used in the al ending of How I Met Your Mother, with his song of the same name. I dug that show but somehow never connected the dots when I watched the alt ending! It's on youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_Qb0-iyETA , but does anyone have a rip from the DVD or Blu-ray in better quality than me ripping from youtube they can pass along to share? I'll tack it on to the end of The Long Resterberg, as it's the last thing to come from Paul as it turns out! Woah!

Added "How I Met Your Mother" to The Long Resterberg . It's a youtube rip, but unless someone rips it from the DVD or Blu-ray, it's probably the best we'll have for a bit. From reading the twitter of Carter Bays, the co-creator of the show, he's a HUGE PW fan and asked for Paul to write a song. Paul and his people never responded and he figured it was a no. Then a month later he gets the song! There is a full version and Bays wants it out too, but for now, the partial is all that's ever been available. Carter Bays has also confirmed that "How I Met Your Mother" is indeed the name of the song! Having come in 2014 when the show ended, it's now the last known solo material from Paul at least for now, so it's in at track 47, wrapping up The Long Resterberg! Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who liked that show and somehow missed this!

Great job Funker, but aren't the Dry Wood Garage Soundcloud songs Westerberg's last songs available?

Great stuff! Way to put it together!
Isn't there a tune out there called "Watering Can" or something like that? Also one called "Whatever Happened to Paul"? Both only performed live once.

I'm most of the way through getting this PW live covers and rarities set together! Only a few tracks from that long list I posted a few pages back that aren't on either the PW or Mats tracks that have come my way. Message me if you have any of these please:
Wrote a Song for Everyone (CCR cover) 6-30-02 Guthrie Theater, MN (Batman Theme at that show too) Burning Love (Elvis) 8-16-02 Norva, Norfolk, VA It’s All Over Now (The Valentino’s) 11-6-02 Pantanges, MN Jesus Just Left Chicago (ZZ Top) 4-15-05 Rivera Theater, Chicago, IL Send In The Clowns (Sondheim) 9-14-96 El Rey Theater (During Talent Show) Whipping Post / Freebird / Round and Round / Voodoo Child 4-29-05 9:30 Club DC
Hoping to wrap that set in the next in the next two weeks and then get to working on the Mats one!
True, Hide N Lurkin' last under his name then.
I've seen folks mention "What ever happened to Paul" before. The thought from one person was it was likely one of the Grandpaboy tracks that someone didn't know. "Watering Can" is a new one on me. If anyone has either, please pass along also, as I'd love to include them in this project! Thanks all!

Thanks all! “watering can” starts at about 1:04:30 or so youtu.be/jaSYb_dH9bs“whatever happened to Paul “ might be “O.D.Blues” from Dead Man Shake since it does have those lyrics but don’t know about a live performance Some of “Whipping post” from 87 is on this near end of part one www.themckenzietapes.com/tapes/2018/7/23/the-replacements-at-beacon-theater-07-23-1987And scanning some others from the McKenzie tapes there are a bunch of other covers I hadn’t seen on your list yet

I also have a couple of other songs I don't see on your list, "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" and "Goddam Angel" both from Fitzgerald Theater Lindeen Fakebook event from 2007. Let me know if you want these and if so, how I can get them to you.

I got a great message today with a FLAC version of "How I Met Your Mother" ripped from the DVD! I've added that separately as a FLAC in the PW folder and also converted it to a 320 mp3 and upgraded the version that's at the end of The Long Resterberg!

I completely missed Hide N' Lurkin's message but have sent a DM now to get "What Ever Happened to Paul"! I have the Craft show and will be including those tracks on the upcoming covers and live rarities set too!
While getting the versions of tracks I selected ready, I discovered the Skyway To Buffalo FM Radio Broadcast boot of the 8-1-02 show had awesome sound but had a few tracks with little skips in them where none of the sound was actually gone, but just had these little chunks of silence that were in the way, and also a few slightly early or late start and end times for the tracks on that show. I went back and fixed it saving both FLAC and mp3 versions of the tracks as I did!
I added the FLAC and mp3 versions of the fixed up Buffalo show in a folder of the PW folder called FM Broadcast Concerts. I also added the radio broadcast Belly Up Tavern show from 05 to that folder! Winding down on a huge work project and I'll have more time to work on projects like this come Thursday!

On possible tracks that I could be missing for this set, I found this old thread - paulwesterberg.proboards.com/thread/1087?page=3 talking about a PW covers record that Vagrant apparently said they didn't want. A few tracks are talked about that it isn't clear whether they were ever done live or folks just wished they had been:
Cherry Cherry Dead Flowers Star Star Star Fucker (Referred to as happening at an L.A. Show) So Lonesome I could Cry House of the Rising Sun
The rest I've checked and either have on Westerbergers or have for the Mats set. Anyone who knows of any of the above actually happening at at what shows, please let me know!
Aside from a few upgrades additions or fixes here or there on Westerbergers, The Mats Live Covers and Rarities set is the next thing I'll tackle, though it will probably take longer will all of the tracks to organize and best versions to narrow down, but should be great once finished!
A few cool links to live shows to check out that were passed along my way:
Not sure if you've ever been to this site, some of the links are dead now, but quite a few still active -

You're quite welcome!I made a few upgrades
-Changed the source for Daydream Believer to being from a FLAC and converted to 320 from that, Tracked down the FLAC broadcast of Laurie Lindeen's Fakebook show, the Stones covers aren't there on the version I got, and God Damn Angel is the censored version. I took those FLAC files and made 320 mp3s of Laurie talking about Paul with Paul's intro to I've Grown Accustomed To Your Face, I've Grown Accustomed To Your Face, The Censor version of God Damn Angel and the version of Daydream Believer that closed and upgraded the Fakebook Folder tracks along with creating a separate folder for those FLACs.
I also upgraded I've Grown Accustomed To Your Face on Westerbergers to the 320 version from the FLACs.
Finally, had pointed out to me that the early version of September (PW Dry Wood Garage Track) mentioned early in this thread along with that whole show is available at the archive URL in my post above, so I added that and re-vamped the order with it included! Hopefully Burning Love and Jesus Just Left Chicago get tracked down soon too!

A bit of an update- I'm still working on the Mats live rarities set, which I plan to get done with before the end of Summer. Also may end up with a few other Paul radio sessions, those would be coming from the guy who owns the In-house CD with "She Looks Like Rain" and "Any Trouble" and supplied those tracks. He's a bit slower at responding, but does have the songs, so hopefully an update on those coming even before I wrap the live Mats set!
I've responded to PMs, but haven't to messages on the board itself the past few weeks, sorry about that!

Exciting News! The same friend who wishes to remain anonymous that purchased the in house CD with King Of America and Cheyenne has hooked me with both of the possibly authorized vinyl bootlegs that he got and had professionally ripped!
Young Fresh Fellows: Live at CBGB's, 10-12-1984 (FM Broadcast) - I hadn't heard about this coming out, but it looks like it did this year as well, though more quietly if my quick research on it is correct?
and the more discussed...
Live! At Riot Fest Toronto (8-25-2013)
I have both the MP3 and FLAC versions of each up in the Mats folder! I also replaced the version of The Shit Hits The Fans in there with corrected track and songwriter info along with higher res art.
The Mats Live Rarities set is still in progress. No word back from the owner of the in-house CD of She Looks Like Rain on the Paul Radio sessions he offered up to me a while back. Hopefully that still happens too. Once again, if you'd like access to the PW and Mats rarities and sets I've been archiving, just send me a PM and I'll hook you up with the Google Drive links!

The Mats Live Rarities Set is just about done! It's called Marqueed Men and presently has 2 Volumes and 82 tracks!!!! :
Marqueed Men: Live Covers and Rarities 81-86 and Marqueed Men: Live Covers and Rarities 87-15
It's all covers and obscure Mats songs and goof around songs that didn't make it to albums!
I went for the best played / quality recorded version and am really happy with it. I'll be listening back to it to see if any tracks should get switched out for other rarities, but probably won't be making too many changes. I'll announce the likely track list in the coming days and release it out on my Google Drive folder on Wednesday, September 7th!
Invariably, there's going to be a ton of stuff left off for one of a few reasons: I just haven't heard it yet, because it was already getting to be a really big project with a LOT of songs, or in a few cases because the tracks were unlistenable from really rough recordings or the band intentionally messing up the song.
For the good stuff not on Marqueed Men, I'll probably do a future volume or even two to cull all of that great obscure stuff together, though that'll be a ways down the line. I'm really excited to unveil this to you all very soon! Stay tuned!!
Special thanks to the MANY very generous folks who shared the best obscure stuff from their collections to make this idea turn into a reality!
