It seems like over the years there's been maybe more than a few movies/books/songs where Paul is a character or the basis for a character. Most are probably documented in this forum here and there.
- "The Lonely 1" -Wilco (song): reputed to be the subject of the song - "Aurora Borealis" (movie): referred to/off-screen character? - ... pretty sure there are others

The musician character in Jonathon Franzen’s Freedom seemed like a Paul type to me. I can’t remember the guys name now, it’s been years since I’ve read it. Hell of a book anyway.

What was that movie in which the female protagonist was a fan of Paul and she sees him filling up a gar with gas a gas station? I hated that because it showed absolutely zero knowledge of Paul. He doesn't drive!

I always thought the character of Roger Greenberg from the movie Greenberg may have been based on Paul - not only are they both "'bergs", but the character of Roger Greenberg is a difficult to get to know, somewhat misanthropic musician that doesn't drive who refused to sign a big recording contract way back when because he didn't think he'd be able to conform to the commercial expectations.
