R.J. 47 Los Angeles
Started with "Tim," worked backwards, and have been on board ever since. I saw the Replacements last-ever L.A. show, and PW in '96.

my obsession with the replacements started when they had started when they did the theme song for the t.v. show Friends "i'll be There for You" . they have never been able to capture the brilliance of that tune but i've remained a fan hoping that oneday.......

Alright, here's the stats:
24 (25 in a couple of weeks), NYC--PW fan since I heard one of the songs in the Stereo album when it came out, turned around, and went--who is THAT!? It's soo good! Ever since I've listened to every Mats and PW song. They're all good...
And yeah, if he comes to NYC all the East Coasters could get together. My guess is he'll play The Bowery Ballroom. Plenty of cool places around there to get a drink...

Scott from Detroit here. 41(my god yes I am). Mat shows. 1985, 1987 (2X), 1989, 1990 (2X). Westerberg 1993 (2X), 1996, 2002. Saw the original line-up only once in 1985 when they opened for REM at the Fox theater in Detroit. It was around the time they were on SNL. Sloppy, drunk, switching instruments but the crowd was so totally into them. I remember them playing "if i only had a brain and hootanany". Wasn't a true fan however until the Please to Meet Me tour. Never seen anything like those two shows here in Detroit for that lp.

I hope he's playing Irving Plaza, It's twice as big as the Bowery... last time he was in NYC he did a gig at each venue & 1 out at the Warsaw in BROOKlyn... regardless, I am whereever it's at with bells & beers on !

I've been a fan since '82. Yes I'm just barely in my 40's! I grew up in MN and now live in CA. I've seen the ups and downs and I think that's why I'm so blown away and critical of PW. Now he's a sloppy mess and all through the '90's that's what everyone said he was missing. Too polished! Now too messy! Drunk sober it was all wrong. When Tim came out and they went to Sire fans were pissed off and thought they were sell outs. When they added horns and strings to PTMM people freaked. When "Can't Hardly Wait" was recorded and not the rockin version they did live people thought they went soft. People worried about Paul stating that he won't be able to write when his father retires since he wrote most of his songs at his parents house. Then they only got better! We hung on them to do good but not too good. Change but don't. I thought it was so cool that every album was different and better than the last. What other band does that? The shows were sometimes great, often good, and occasionally terrible. I loved them all! When "Don't Tell A Soul" was out and the new fans would yell "I'll Be You" and the old ones "Freebird" that was fun. Everyone had a different idea of what they meant to them. They also were the band that most other MN punk bands hated. I grew up with his sound and I hope he just keeps changing and surprising us.

First time poster so be gentle
Dave in UK (duh!) age 24. Been a fan since age 14. Heard "Here Comes a Regular" in a small record shop in a small town and every album and single b side I obsessively hunted since by him seemed to soundtrack some ugly/beautiful part o' growin up there. I still think "Eventually" is underated too!
Met him in London when he played here last year, what a gent. Thats another story...
Cheers, next!
