The upside of the Replacements was the urgency and passion in the music. The downside is that it could have killed them to live it like they did.
The upside of Paul's solo work is that he still follows his muse and is true to himself. The downside is that he's given up the ghost of Let It Be,Tim,Pleased To Meet Me.
The upside is that Let It Be,Tim,and Pleased To Meet Me were made. The downside is the passion and scope of those albums has not been gone after again.
The upside is we have Suicaine Gratifaction,Stereo/Mono,49:00. The downside is it's been almost ten years since 49:00.
The upside is the Replacements reunited and were great. The downside is they couldn't record another album together.
The upside is Trouble Boys was a fantastic biography of the band. The downside is Paul seems to have given up the ghost of making a professionally produced studio album.
The upside is you read this. The downside is that there really isn't a point to any of it.

They were always kinda an upside/downside sorta band...There was also an over under sideways down band, but I think that was The Yardbirds...
