I think it would be ok to call his number 1 shocking. I think I actually gasped when i scrolled down and saw it. lol
Here's mine...
1 Tim 2 PTMM 3 Let It Be 4 Hootenanny 5 DTAS 6 All Shook Down
The albums I listed could all flip flop spots with each other 1-2 , 3-4, 5-6, as if picking that "era" of the band as much as the album. Works fine that way too.
I've never bothered with the first 2 releases at all. Just nothing there for me. I've always felt guilty about it since I claim them as my 2nd favorite band of all time. I try every few years to give them another listen and nothing changes for me.
DTAS has grown on me over the years. I actually like the production of it now (gasp!). So of it's time, maybe i like it for the "nostalgia" factor. Sounds so 1989.
ASD is Paul's best solo album.
Those middle 4 release's are the meat and potatoes no doubt.

A fun exercise. Here's my list, arranged in tiers:
top tier: Sorry Ma, Let It Be, Tim, Pleased to Meet Me (on any given day, I could say one of these was my favorite Replacements album i.e. my favorite album)
second tier: Hootenanny, All Shook Down (love them but could never say either was my favorite)
third tier: Stink (though lately I've been loving it more and more, could nudge up into the second tier)
moldy dank sub-basement: Don't Tell a Soul

Definitely was surprised that All Shook Down was #1 for Tommy (sorry not sorry for the spoiler) however, it definitely has some gems (Attitude, When it Began, etc.). Because I love the Replacements and enjoy making lists, here's mine:
1. Tim 2. Let it Be 3. Don't Tell a Soul 5. Pleased to Meet Me 4. Stink 5. Hootenanny 6. Sorry Ma 7. All Shook Down

Getting to read Tommy's thoughts on each record helped make it clear as to why he ranked ASD at the top....glad he just didn't make a list. The ASD tunes were great songs with a lot of heart and soul. Just a break up record if I ever heard one! If you have never listened to that record with a decent set of headphones, you owe it to yourself to do so. Much deeper and pleasing to the ear than it can initially seem, IMO. 1. Pleased To Meet Me (it's the album that introduced me to them and it has "Valentine" on it....all I need!) 2. Tim 3. Let It Be 4. All Shook Down 5. Don't Tell A Soul 6. Hootenanny 7. Sorry Ma... (you could hear the greatness coming in "Johnny's Gonna Die", "Takin A Ride" and "I'm In Trouble") 8. Songs For Slim (hell yeah, I'm counting this!) 9. Stink

One of my favorite 'Mats songs in regards to how the rhythm sections plays. Not quite funk, but man it teeters on it!

Very intimate setting....a little too intimate! Ha Ha!! Tommy was awesome. Really took the time to sign autographs, and take some selfies (which he likes to do...you give up control when you do a selfie with Tommy!). I bought a tour poster and some of Uncle Sippy's blend....good stuff.
