I'm curious to know why he wore such a drab outfit. Both Tommy and Dave wore flashy sportcoats and then there's Paul looking like he's getting ready to mow the lawn. I found it very cool and I'm not sure I've ever seen such a contrast within a band before. any other thoughts on this?

Yeah, he had that squinty look that I get when I don't wear mine. I also think he might be coloring his hair. Now I know people will give me shit for saying that (bring it on) but Paul definitely was graying at the temples in photos a few years ago. He's a luxurious mop of rich rock and roll brown now.
I say that because I'm the same age and my grays have overtaken the browns and it's been a question for me whether to fight it or not. I choose to fly my gray suburban trim naturally.

Graying temple are the work of the antichrist. Don't get me started. Haha. I think Paul looked pretty good and I think his casual look is much better than his zootsuit era in 96

The focus was certainly on the music given the bland clothing.
FWIW, I think the backstage or green room photos showed him with a jacket, so maybe he just got too warm.
I wonder more about why he changed the chorus, dropping words like "scream for"

I liked the drab underdressed look...Very punk...Funny I didn't even notice he wasn't wearing glasses...He's gotta be touching up the hair...He can probably go have someone do a nice professional job, s'ok...You know what they charge for that? I tried it at home one time, and it just looked fake, like I was wearing a wig (Yeah, it was a girlfriend's suggestion)...Plus, you gotta keep doing it...Way too much of a pain in the ass...Mine's pretty much been white since I was 35 anyway, so, fuck it...

I like that he dropped the "Lennon shades". That's a Paul solo look to me. Crud I loved the Batman T for the Seattle show!
Yeah it would be cool to see him dress up, but dressing down is kinda punk to me, even if it isn't the all black that the kids these days wear.Drab t-shirt is way more F-U in my opinion.

Paul not only looked great- he looked happy, healthy and like a guy having the time of his life. That was so cool. And Tommy was looking good too!

My how things change - a few years ago we were wondering if Paul would ever release another tune, play another show, pondering a mysterious hand injury.... Today we're debating his late night tv attire.
Let's hope next year this time we're dissecting the Mats album that just came out....

I feel like he dropped the '90s glasses a while ago. It seems like he phased out the tinted Lennon shades during/after the Only Friends tour.
On another note, he's skinny as hell again.

Considering the lads were known for doing their wardrobe gathering in thrift shops while on tour (recall the loud plaid phase?) I'd say Paul's always turned his nose up at fashion mavens. Either way, he's looking damn healthy for a man one year younger than I. (Me on the other hand ... Meh.) He's definitely beat the middle-aged chunkiness that I caught a close glimpse of at the London Scala gig in 2004. Maybe Tommy's got him on that bean diet.
