this alone makes me hopeful: “We once made a record called ‘Stink,’“ he said. “The new CD is called ‘Feculent.’” PS-from the Yahoo picture feed:

These things are hilarious to read...The takes are pretty widely divergent...You got to check out Nazareth's review over on the "Anyone going to Coachella?" thread, because it seems like he saw a different band...I kinda take his word more; it's a regular person who posts here, what the hell...

Read some reviews of Outkast's appearance...Similar comments about "technical problems" and "lukewarm audience"...The same review made a point of indicating that the Replacements seemed much tighter and had a more enthusiastic response...Interesting post in the comments section that speculated that while "classic rock" artists like the Rolling Stones could always branch off in different directions and play into their sixth decade, and only gain more recognition and respect, and even attract new generations of fans, "hip hop" artists really only had a short window of time in which to be considered cool, and once that window was closed, it was nearly impossible to stage something like a "comeback"...Younger listeners were really only interested in what was current and relevant to them, and older fans just forget about them or lost interest...

Here's the thing. These reviewers probably listened to a couple 'mats songs on Spotify, saw their show and wrote a review. They don't know anything about their humor, or the fact that they'd rather rip through a couple b-sides than play a perfect greatest hits set note for note. This band isn't and was never for them.
A note on the Paul being upset with the crowd, all I heard was typical playful Paul. He asked the crowd "what do you want to hear 'ill be you' or 'psychopharmacology?' Of course the crowd is going to choose 'ill be you' so Paul says "ya bastards" and that was it. The reviewer has no idea the context of the joke so they assume Paul's pissed. Looks like they still don't get it. Even after all these years.

Thanks for that context, Nazareth. From the sound of the stream of consciousness review you posted earlier, it was a great show despite the setting. Glad you got the chance to witness a rock ' roll assault at its finest! I can only imagine what it was like when the opening chords to Nowhere Is My Home transitioning into Bobs infamous riff rang out - probably akin to when the boys launched into Wake Up in Toronto!
