So another good one from the boys. I was in Toronto, and while tonight didn't match it as an event, it was still a great show and it seemed everyone had fun. The one disappointment was the predictability of the set list. Although they played more songs than last time, it was largely the same - they only didn't do Everything's Coming Up Roses tonight - and the added stuff - I Don't Know, Waitress, Hold My Life - were more than welcome. Of course, they played more by talking less as there much less between song banter than before, but Paul trashing the onstage clock, "You guys tell us when to stop playing" was hilarious. The were a few screw-ups too, with Paul hating the sound of Dave's guitar during Swinging Party, "Lose that Cure thing!", he said before walking over and adjusting Dave's effects himself. He also jokingly admonished Dave during Waitress, saying "We could have Bob Mould up here!", teasing that Bob might be a replacement and a Replacement. Also, the largest crowd question probably has a new answer as there must have been 20,000 in the park during Pixies, but it was harder to tell as I was on the front rail for the Mats. It was a muddy mess of a place, though as it rained all day and the place was trashed from the two previous days of the festival. I didn't get the same vibe as Toronto - which was ALL Replacements fans, this was a larger and more casual crowd, but they liked the band just the same. There was also a big LCD screen at this show which helped the big crowd take it all in. Wouldn't hold my breathe for an official release though, as it looked like a pretty shoestring operation and the director seemed to not know the band's music and spent too much time on Dave at the expense of Tommy, IMO. Again, a real good show, but I'm not sorry to skip Denver if the set's gonna be basically the same. I'll see a couple shows on the November tour (that I just made up) instead If you have any questions, put em here and I'll try and answer.

I really hope the do Hold My Life in Denver, although maybe they're holding back Here Comes a Regular.

A couple addendums to the set list:
Tommy Gets his Tonsils Out did include the Third Stone From the Sun outro, 2/3rds of Buck Hill was crammed into where the horn break would be on I Don't Know, and Maybelline was played as a medley with Love You Til Friday as before. I considered it it own tune though as they play the whole thing (I think).

My ears are still ringing! I have been waiting my entire life to see this show, and it was everything I ever could have hoped for. They rocked SO hard, it was incredible. Bob Mould also played a killer set. I sat in the cold rain for 8 hours to have a front spot for The Replacements, no food or water, but boy was it worth it!

I had a helluva time! At 45, I felt a bit out of place right up front with the kids, but when the band roared into "Takin A Ride" that was all out the window!
