How do you think the coming setlists might differ from the Toronto show?

Well, going in true Replacement fashion, you would assume that each show would be a completely different set list, as to what they are feeling, etc. However, since they haven't played together for such a long time, they might keep it to the songs they rehearsed, as I'm sure they want to walk that tightrope of looseness and tightness.... Toronto was a very nice mix of both, and even thought they stayed on their setlist (they only had so much time), it definitely came across as a looser set, with them sounding very tight.

I think at minimum there will be substitutions for Merry Go Round, Swingin' Party, Wake Up and Achin' to Be... with Valentine, Unsatisfied, Portland and I'll Be You. Also no Androgynous and no Everything's Coming up Roses which weren't on the set list but maybe Another Girl Another Planet and/or Hayday in their place.

I loved the Toronto set list but those all sound like improvements!

I hope they dust off Here Comes a Regular. Heard it while traveling to Fargo for a basketball camp (circa 1986 or 7) and had no idea who the hell it was but loved it from the start. The rest is history.

I'd like to hear Photo from the PTMM b-sides - since they are pulling out the b-sides now.
Can't remember a Chicago show without Sweet Home Chicago

Although I thought the Toronto setlist was awesome and I liked the fact the Mats drew heavy from the first few albums, I am a fan of the later Replacements (87-91) and would love to hear some more of that era...ie Talent Show, When It Began, Someone Take The Wheel, Portland, Happy Town, We'll Inherit the Earth, I Don't Know and Here Comes a Regular... My hope is that they do a real tour and play for 2+ hours! Then they could squeeze in lot's more. I'm guessing Chicago will have 3-4 changes...

After Sunday's show, think it's fair to say anything goes. If I had to guess, I could see Customer, Talent Show, Nevermind or I'll Be You make an appearance.
One think that stuck with me after witnessing the show in Toronto is all the quotes from Paul & Tommy over the years downplaying the "drunken mess" legend and how the audience was shortchanged on those occasions. Seems the consensus assessment of The Mats was they were a brilliant rock n' roll force one night, intoxicated mess the next. Judging by last Sunday's take-no-prisoners rock assault, I think Paul & Tommy may be out to show that, at its heart, this was one hell of a band live.

I think for the remaining festival gigs they're going to stick to their more rockin' numbers, with a couple softer moments like a Swingin' Party thrown in for good measure. Festival crowds kinda suck for doing subtle acoustic stuff, ballads or slower tempo stuff so I think that stuff will be on hold until a proper Replacements tour happens.

I agree with your GtrPlyr. For the Riot Fest environment seems best to keep the rockin' numbers coming. It may have been different being there, but from listening to the stream and watching the videos it sure seems that is the way to go.
