Slightly different take on 14 songs. I always thought knockin on mine was a great opener. It sets the tone for much of the album. I almost think of it as AAA's big brother. I agree. I love Knockin' on Mine and the tone of that song definitely sets up the whole album. That song also has one of my all time favorite Westerberg lyrics - "...they teach you to fix what needs to be broke, he who laughs first didn't get the joke..." I think that one line sums up Paul perfectly.

Depends. Yes, it's great and I have to go back and remember the lyrics one of these days. I guess I was just looking for why the album wasn't doing that much for me a couple months back. (Though I've rediscovered it, as one always does with great albums / every Paul album.) And what sort of went wrong with his solo career at the time. Though I seem to recall this album being pretty big and him being pretty big at the time (it was pre-my becoming a fanatic). Did he wait too long to put it out? Was he too busy socializing with Hollywood? ??

Surf's always good . . . for boogyboarding. I spent my formative years in Detroit, Williamsburg and DC, so surfing's not my forte. I was near Bells Beach two days ago (Airey's Inlet) at 8 a.m. and it was rather idyllic.
