Thanks for posting that fritz. Who do we think he's talking about here? I have a feeling this is a dig at Paul McCartney. I'm sure the whole thing about McCartney allegedly killing 49:00 doesn't help with Paul's viewpoint on the man .

Dear Paul, if you decide you feel like playing some shows: you can bring your piano or guitar, your friends or just yourself, your couch or your teleprompter... You name the venue, the city ... fuck up all the lyrics if you want. It doesnt matter, be whoever you are these days or pick whatever hat you feel like putting on ... I just want a chance to see you play.

Good guess; I suppose it makes sense. But I got the impression that the interview was done just last week and he was referring to something "the other night." Has McCartney been on TV since the Olympics? Regardless, I also found his dig at the Color Me Obsessed movie to be funny (and understandable).

Fuck. I just want to pull him aside and let him know that his solo work is also fucking fantastic and to stop giving a shit about what people think! I dont care if its billed as replacements/tom and paul show/paul and tom show/ or whatever....
Man, your music is fucking great. Go out and rock like murder and do whatever you want man.

Yeah, great little interview. Nice to have a little insight into his current mindset. I still think it's odd that he's kind of preoccupied with the relevancy of the album in the current marketplace. Just do it, man. Does it matter if it makes sense or not? The way that every single Mats album (and almost every solo album) is sequenced makes it plain as day that Paul is an album guy. If him and Tommy are going to record something, then it really needs to be an album. The sequencing was always part of the magic of any Mats album.

He says things like his confidence is not very good on some days. He "vaccilates". It's almost like he thinks he's lost a step and doesn't want to embarrass himself or tarnish what he used to be. I think that might play a big part in why he doesn't want to play live. No teleprompters for Paul.

I wish he wouldn't be too caught up with self doubt...whether it's live performance or whatever. But I suppose that's his nature.
I agree with HillBilly and Clams: just do it and don't worry about what people think. He'll always be relevant to us.
But that's too bad that Slim is still struggling to gain movement.

Rolling Stone would actually "redact" the name of the "1960's rock legend" Paul might have mentioned? That just seems kinda weird...

What did McCartney do to 49?
That was a cool interview. Very Westerberg. I wonder if he is like that around the house with the quick wit? If so, he's got to have some friends over shooting the shit.

It's kind of odd to read Paul talking about rejecting the "technocracy," when the bulk of his last ten years of recordings have only been available as online downloads.

Oh that man is such a tease. A "little piano record"? Playing it live? Man I love the piano. I am very affected by it. It can be so moving and sensual. Subject me to it...please

I have always thought it would be really cool to see him do some of the piano songs live...
