Wow..Great quality..Where and when is this? It's at First Ave. in MPLS opening for X in around '83 or '84. I think so anyway. There are three more songs from this show on Youtube, but these two were just recently posted. More to come hopefully!

wow thanks for posting- these videos are great!
its also funny just seeing those two cheap peavey guitar amps up on stage - especially when lots of people aways want to get "that replacements guitar sound"

Agreed, great quality. When this first surfaced on Y/T I couldn't wait to see more of it. I would love to have the whole thing.
This looks like it was shot during Paul's "makeup" phase.

Re those Peavey amps (which are still plugged into good-sized cabinets), does anyone know when they switched to the Marshalls?

I was just kidding...It does look funny...I always had Peavys...I was also always kinda embarrased by them, but that was really just because I had delusions of grandeur and wanted to be hipper than I really was...They were actually pretty good amps...

One thing about Peaveys is that they last a LONG time. Might sound like crap, but they work. The only working amp I have left is a Peavey Classic Chorus. I can get it to sound OK, but it just won't cut through in a band situation...

Peaveys are not considered great amps. Very few pros play them (with a couple notable exceptions). They're even considered somewhat of an inside joke in musician circles, like beginner amps. Many a guitarist's first amp was a Peavey because they have the best volume for the buck. But that tone....ugh. And Creep66 is right - they will last forever. And they do have some better quality/expensive stuff. They're just not talked about the same way as the big players like Marshall, Vox, Orange, etc.
Side note - in the mid-90s my band had a van. It was a sweet Plymouth Voyager with a built-in loft and gear storage and all that. We attached a Peavey logo to the front grill, intentionally perpetuating the inside joke.
Another side note, the great band Two Cow Garage has a song called No Shame. The protagonist has had it with the music biz and being a sorry-ass broke musician. He's in his empty room "There's a TV set on a Peavey Amplifier, I'm lying in bed watching The Outsiders, Thanks for asking but things have never been worse." I love the tune, but I love that it's a Peavey amp. Like his life doesn't suck bad enough - it's gotta be a Peavey!

I've got a Bandit 65 in the basement you can have, Dee. It's got a bit of a cackle but it works!

I think Peavey should embrace that and use that as their marketing campaign: When life really sucks, you're behind on the rent, and your band is falling apart, at least you got a Peavey!
