15 songs is pretty slim pickins.. must be a small book. I have several songbooks from various artists with similar career spans as Westerberg...Typically they contain almost 100 songs.. CF true, but because Paul is not a household name or anything, maybe the publishing company and Music Dispatch wanted to test the waters and see what kind of a demand there is first for the songbook before forging ahead with a bigger book. well, at least it isn't just 14 Songs....(sorry, bad joke).

I just got the book and from first gance I noticed two things. It appears to have all the alternate tunings and multiple guitar parts, but there seems to be an error with the chord diagrams at the top of each song page. Dyslexic Heart,Unsatisfied,Let The Bad Times Roll and I Will Dare seem to be the only songs with all the chords diagrammed.Alex Chilton only has one chord diagrammed and most of the other songs don't have any chords diagrammed.Music books like these should diagram all the chords for each song or atleast dedicate one page to show all the chords used in the book. That said, the chords or rather picking is tabbed out in the actual music so you should be set. There are no pics besides the nice cover shot.It says Bug Music on the back and distributed by Hal Leonard.Time to dig in!

thanks for the preview, dee!
now, that is rather curious that the chords aren't diagrammed for all the songs. Maybe it's because Paul isn't playing entire chords but notes within a chord or some partial chord? perhaps the transcribers weren't sure what the hell chord it was and let the tabs be your guide to the fingerings.

Very interested in this book. I've been secretly figuring out pw songs (mostly post-ptmm) for years.
Here's my take on tunings for the ones I've worked on:

Now that we have the bigger pic, let the obsessive over-analyzing begin! What kind of floor is that? Does the baseboard molding mean he's in a hallway? Is that a sticker on the bottom of the guitar??? ;D

Back pain must be better...Did he actually wear those jeans until the cuffs frayed naturally, or did he buy those custom aged in an expensive boutique?

Oh please don't remind me of the Habs---they upset my Caps in the first round of the playoffs last year. Ugh.
Funny, the pic looks like he just got released from a POW camp or something....
I'll order another book for myself as the one I have now will be given away as a birthday gift.

I have noticed this popping up on ebay in the last few weeks and as someone who has just started playing guitar I am pretty interested in getting hold of a copy. Also living in Australia I thought the postage listed on ebay was pretty expensive so I was keen to check the site listed above. The cheapest they charge for postage to Australia is $22! What a joke! I might have to wait til I see it elsewhere.

Confirmed.
It's a nice thorough, thick book. Paul looks aggrivated on the cover. Maybe because someone put a Habs sticker on his strat. Haven't looked at it with a guitar in hand yet, but the tabs look detailed and complete. I'm sure these tunes were transcribed by someone else - I'd bet Paul has no idea how to play Shiftless When Idle anymore.

Maybe you can check the site and see if it's possible to get a copy from them rather than Music Dispatch? www.halleonard.com.au/www.halleonard.com/search/search.do?subsiteid=1&keywords=westerberg

They tabbed out multiple guitar parts, it's not just the one rhythm guitar or anything for some songs. It's for all guitar parts. And what's surprising to me is how the tabs reveal what an accomplished songwriter Paul is. This simply isn't just three chord rock! Even for something that sounds simple, like 'Dyslexic Heart', it's got interesting sustained chords in it, 7ths, added 9ths. Paul has the ability to utilize more than just major and minor chords. And DH is in standard tuning. I thought for sure one of the guitars was in an open tuning. What fooled me was the sustained chords he was playing! the book lists several transcribers. They must've had fun working on the open tuning stuff and trying to sort out what he was doing.
