Rest in peace, Alex. Kind of sadly ironic that the Big Star boxed set arrived at my door only yesterday. I'll certainly be dedicating this weekend to LX's honor, listening to and raising a few...

I seem to remember rumors of his death in the immediate wake of Katrina. Thought it was something like that again at first tonight, when google news had nothin'

I got into Big Star through the Replacements, truly sad. I'm also a big Vic Chesnutt fan, losing him and Alex in the last 3 months is a huge loss. R.I.P. Alex, you will be missed.

Not only is his passing a tragic blow to music in general, but it also brings up the sad fact that the heros of our youth aren`t indestuctible and neither are we. Major reality check. At least we still have his music.

"Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossile to be silent." HUGO
Alex and Vic within 4 months. The world has lost two gigantic talents but we are richer all the same for their legacies...

This is very sad news. I feel like I've been punched in the stomach. Big Star was scheduled to perform at SXSW Saturday.
