I remember reading around the time of the 'Mats "Best Of" compilation in 2005 that a label was planning on re-releasing/remastering some of Paul's solo stuff. I wonder if that's still in the cards? The first three major label albums have been out long enough for upgrades w/ extras, in particular.
Just some food for thought...

Wouldn't that have been right before Besterberg? Maybe that's what they were talking about.

I really doubt that any of the solo stuff will be remastered or expanded.

Indeed, it was right around the release of Besterberg. I figure at least the major label stuff will be re-released at some point, if only because everything else seems to be getting re-released lately.

I would definatly buy the re-masters. 14 Songs needs a good remastering, and how cool would some extras be? Maybe some outtakes or demos (if they exist) and the interview from the special edition version? The rerelease of 'Suicaine' would definatly have to include '33rd of July' and 'Wonderful Copenhagen'.

There's a better chance of the first two albums, since they're both on Warners. Suiciane would be very doubtful, as it was on Capitol and was pretty much buried as soon as it was released.

I'd like to hear "Cheyenne" that was supposed to have been on "Eventually". That song and "C'mon Little Bitch" didn't make the cut because Paul felt it didn't fit right with the rest of the album or CD.

I really doubt they would re-issue the first two. Both are easily available in most cut-out bins. Suicaine is harder to find and may warrant a reissue on a smaller label just so it's easier to find.
I don't even think Paul would want Eventually reissued. That album flopped something major, even though i love it.

I'd like to hear "Cheyenne" yes! also, in the "book" version of 14 songs, an unreleased song is mentioned... 96 tears. teardrops in the rain. something along those lines. i will have to consult my book when i get home from work.

when paul signed that deal the other month wasnt there mention that they now had some sorta rights to his catalog? why would they mention it or be interested in getting it unless they planned to make some money from it. even if its just another greatest hits....
the entire replacements stuff got remastered, and while they are more popular than his solo career they still arent this biggest name (sadly). with the 'mats reissues and his online releases they probably have a decent idea what the market is currently for paul's music. id be surprised if we didnt see something done from the new deal with regards to pauls past albums.

That was a publishing deal. The reissued 'mats catalog sold way less than expected, so it's really unlikely they're going to invest money into remastering the solo material.

Eventually flopped commercially and sales-wise, but in interviews PW said the album was a "sleeper" type of album that would be more appreciated as the years went by as opposed to when it was first released. He seems to stick by it pretty strongly whenever it's brought to his attention.
