Imagine if we knew this was going to be SA's lineup back in '90. Tommy from the Replacements? Prince's drummer? In Soul Asylum? You're kidding right? I guess it's a bit more plausible than Tommy in GnR.

Some of us in the SA camp are just waiting for soul asylum to release a new album (rumored to be ready this spring) and for them to give a full scale tour. Maybe with tommy on the road with SA full time, he could escape from GnR. Phil

I was there! I said to Dave Pirner after the show, "we came all the way from Pittsburgh to see you guys" and he just said, "you did not..." lol. He's such a sweetheart in person. It was an amazing show, Minneapolis is an amazing town, and First Avenue is an amazing venue. I'm glad I was finally here once. Sometimes I wish I could grab ahold of Tommy and pull him away from GnR forever, but I guess if he still likes it it's all good. But come on, 2/3 of the original Soul Asylum + the best drummer they ever had + the only bassist worthy of filling Karl Mueller's place = Soul Asylum Axl Rose + Tommy Stinson + some guy named Bumblefoot (which is a disease, by the way) + five other guys whose names I can't remember minus the sum of every other guy who's ever been in GnR = [I'm too lazy to come up with something witty put you see my point]

Yes, Pat Morley was their original drummer, but I didn't count him 'cuz they've had so many drummers over the years.

Yeah but I'm sure the GNR gig gets the bills paid plus some.
Do you think Westerberg pulled himself out of his house to go see this show?

Tommy is doing "My Generation" w/ GNR in Asia right now. I'd love to hear that version.

Tommy is doing "My Generation" w/ GNR in Asia right now. I'd love to hear that version. The Replacements may have done My Generation once or twice.. Of those Who songs, I think "Substitute" was a bigger band favorite...Later on I remember "I Can See for Miles" being played frequently. CF
