And I'm sure there is some 6 degrees of separation to PW? I'll play! From the Wiki entry for "Halcyon": "Halcyon (Beautiful Days)", a song by Mono from Walking Cloud and Deep Red Sky, Flag Fluttered and the Sun Shined Halcyon, a Boat Club at St. Paul's School, Concord, New Hampshire, U.S. What do I win??

OK - I'm in
They both covered Route 66?
Ok - most bands have. Do I get a prize for second place?
Seriously - I do like Jason and the Scorchers, love that Cowpunk
But then again, I've been known to listen to Joe Ely once in a while...

Joe Ely's cool. He wears his fingernails long so they click when he plays the piana.
I saw him at Milwaukee's Summerfest many years ago. He was wasted! (and having a ball)I think he opened for George Thorogood(whatever) but the real treat was Carl Perkins on a side stage that same night.

I was hanging around a club where JATS were gonna play that night in the 80s. I recall eavesdropping on Warren Hodges as he listed off (influences? favorites? bands they covered live? where he learned to play guitar?) ...
"Pistols, Stooges, Stones"
... and I still like how that sounded when he said it. Except I coulda sworn "Dolls" was in there, which could start off one 6-degrees connection to Paul/Mats. Here's another one: When Jason came through MPLS with his farmer act for the kiddies, he played at the 400 Club, the bar owned by former Mats roadie Bill Sullivan. And both bands covered Hank Williams.

Love the Scorchers... and Warner Hodges is someone I would love to see play alongside Paul.
