thanks for the hot tip. as for the question, if you're really asking, it's one word from each song title

Cat escapes bag! Since this is already posted, no harm in posting a link to a large version of the album art: paulwesterberg.com/private/pwandboysorg.jpgI'm guessing this makes Paul pretty much the coolest dad in the neighborhood.

I zoomed in on the cover at Amazon and his eyes are totally closed. Funny.

From the samples at Amazon ... Ghost on the Canvas: "...of eternity/and see the ghost on the canvas/people don't see it/ghost on the canvas/cuz people don't know/and there's nothing ..." Drop Them Gloves: "... mon[?], we're going down the real/ain't no lost love[?]/there's going to be some fighting, boys/tonight, we're gonna drop them gloves/I'm a igno-rant blood[ ] /all black [?] ... " Good As the Cat: "young and low [?] time/I don't want to be told what to do/I don't want to be old and sure can't be new/Baby, I am what I am/Don't hate me for that/Lately, seems you don't give a damn/Treat me as good as the cat ..." Love on the Wing: "It's just the whiskey talking/on your mobile device/to touch base and not to face/could never suffice/cautiously desperate/yet no guarantee/dusty blue-gray[?]/and cobweb ..." Gimme Little Joy: "... steel guitar when no one is around/Yet there's one thing I ain't found/So give me little joy so I can jump/Give my heart a jolt so we can bump/Watch me blow the roof off this dump/It'd be easy ... " Dangerous Boys: " ... awake in the night/To fall to pieces in front of your eyes you mend them back together/and make 'em feel safe/Except for that one boy/keeps breaking like a wave [waif?]/Then ask you where am I? Where am I going? Where have I been? ... "

"treat me as Good As the Cat" from the lyrics in the Amazon sample, makes Good As the Cat seem like Waitress in the Sky crossed with Visitor's Day -- both being sister-tweaking songs If you have a pair of headphones, intestinal fortitude and a spare 10 hours or so, feel free to start the lyrical deconstruction of 49:00. One of the lyrics that made me smile is the song about "Go visit your grandma" and Paul says something about "you could call your aunts but they are too busy with their pets" (extreme paraphrase) and given that Paul is not so much with the animal loving and one of Paul's sisters helps organize an animal rescue fundraiser each year in MPLS, I think that qualifies as a gentle zing.

This was the photo that was originally going to grace the new e.p. Not sure why PW changed his mind.

The CD is out on "Dry Wood Music" ... like 45:00 and the other online-only releases. Except this is a physical CD, too. So is Dry Wood Music associated with any known record label, for distribution purposes at least?

This kind of news is one of the few reasons I still communicate with the outside world. I will sleep contentedly after a long day...

Did you hear that? That was me squealing like a school girl. I must now go make up some reasonable excuse for this outburst to my office mates.

It appears as if Dry Wood is Paul's publishing arm associated with Ten Pin Management (ie, Darren Hill). I found this link which references Dry Wood on the ASCAP (Am. Society of Composers Authors and Performers) search site: tinyurl.com/m5cmq8

I'll buy this, of course, and I'll probably enjoy it. but I've just gotta say, I'm really freaking tired of the DIY shit.
The snippets on Amazon sound fine, pretty much on par with what he's been putting out the last few years - and to me, that's the problem. I guess I just wish he'd move on to something different and/or more exciting (like how recording at home for S/M, CFMT, DMS, etc. originally was). Now it feels like he's on auto-pilot and taking the easy way out.
Sorry to rain on the parade... I was just hoping that the delay here was because he had something different in the works. And since it's "only" an EP, it doesn't seem like there's enough material here to warrant a tour. big bummer.
