if you can track down an old musician from late 80's...with the mat's on the cover paul names a few, my fave, when asked what kinda of drums he played, chris replied, black ones!!!... i wish i had that issue---i used to subscribe to Musician Mag back in the day but it was probably after they were on the cover. I have it at home somewhere. If I come across it I'll see if I can pass along some of the info.

thread title is easily misinterpretted. just sayin' ;D Every time I manage to get FotC's "Sugar Lumps" out of my head, something reminds me of it and it's back. Like this damn thread title! ("I see you girls lookin' at my junk then checkin' out my rump then back to my sugar lumps"). Argh.............. My wife and I recently discovered the Conchords and laughed our asses off when we saw that episode. They rule.

That url looks to be the same interview that appeared in print.. I'm still looking for the "extra" with the Soul Asylum question, etc. CF

Also are there any musicians on this board who feel their set up captures the Mats/PW tone? If you were going to take the stage as a Mats tribute band what would your set up be? Gibson Melody Maker through a Marshall half-stack....crank it. That would be the essence of it, but Paul uses a lot of different guitars. I don't think I've ever seen him use a pedal in all the times I've seen him, but there is a YouTube video where he's trying to stomp a pedal that just won't cooperate.
