hell, the 1st piece of art i saw on that link could be better: 'cept he'd either be holding a guitar in mid-wail, or flipping us off with his right hand... or both.

Nice one. Be even cooler if it was the band struggling.
But let's face it, anything would be better.

I happen to like Robert Longo's art. Any of it would be good, even the cover as it was. I don't care if Westerberg didn't like it. This one's called "Forced Song" ... so that applies to a few of PW's own "worst pieces of shit"

Well, I think the drawings he did of Paul, Bob, Tommy and Chris are really cool. I'm just baffled by the metal corridor.
The one that A Regular posted above reminds me of the photographs in All For Nothing, where Paul, Tommy and Chris are tearing at each other's clothes.

I'm just saying, as a record cover, the pic on Tim stinks. The other records all have covers that say volumes about the band & what you will hear. Tim's cover pic only makes me think, uh?. They shoulda just used the really small pic on the back. That says, "Replacements". & With the tiny sound & all, perfect.

For a band like the Mats, having one cover that makes you think, uh? seems OK. But I agree they coulda swapped the back of Tim with with front, maybe superimposed the tracklist over the metal hallway image and everybody'd be happy.

Maybe you just end up with a cover like this when you "name" your album TIM. Stupid name, bad cover, poor production and it's my favorite record ever.EVER!

Ya know - after taking a quick look at this thread and Longo's work...
Glen Branca's 1981 release "The Ascension" looks like his work on that album as well. I will have to check my copy when I get home from work. That is unless someone here knows??

Can I just redesign the back cover containing the track list?
"Tim" - Lay It Down Clown - Dose of Thunder + Can't Hardly Wait ("Nothing for All" version) + Nowhere Is My Home = the best Replacements album ever?

I agree totally playing historical "What if...?" your track changes would've shunted Tim from flawed also-ran to five star must-have on any list of 1980's albums. Despite the sleeve "artwork".

The cover of Tim will always be the cover I associate with the album, so it's cool with me and I'm not gonna cut it down. I did always love the covers of Sorry Ma and Boink!! and Let It Be of course best, nice simple portraits of the band in their natural habitat. Wish they'd used that cool couch on the railroad tracks pic on an album...maybe it was on something I don't have? Anyone?

This is the album cover I associate Tim with as well,it's perfect and I for one do not find anything wrong with the album. Also I wouldn't know how to change it anyway and am no good with a box of colored pencils anyway. Maybe I just don't like change,I know it drives my kid insane

What I've always wanted to know is exactly what is it? Is it a hallway? I've always been slightly confused by it. I like the drawings of the band in order (Chris, Paul, Bob looking sinister although Tommy's bass is backwards).
I like that the cover art was properly restored. It used to drive me batty that Sire couldn't spring for a color cover and so the first CD issue's lettering was white and not yellow (as on the LP and Cassette).
PTMM was also properly restored (the boxes under the letters were removed for the first CD issue).
