After reading the reviews from The Craft show (pretty cool, you lucky bastards), I only found one specific tidbit about Paul's approach to songwriting.
He talked about how the difference between a good song and a great song is all in the bridge and that he personally followed the same sort of bridge 'rules' that Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello follow.
Did he offer any other songwriting tips or tricks during the show?

and what about the open tunings he uses? Did he make any comments about that?

and what about the open tunings he uses? Did he make any comments about that? There was a question aboutopen tunings, but being musically illiterate, I can't help you. Hopefully someone who was there and knows abotu such things can hellp, but don't forget this is going to be posted online so you can have your answer then (I know the waiting is the hardest part). Oh that reminds me, Paul got off a little zinger at Tom Petty's expense, gently mocking the "Yeah Yeah (Yeah Yeah)" chorus of that song and how he had to hear it every damn night on the Petty tour (though people in "Na na na na, na na na, na na" houses might not want to throw stones!)

Oh definitely, it really wasn't even a zinger, just a very gentle joshing like "I can't get this Yeah Yeah stuff out of my head"! He was very gracious in all his comments, from mentioning "Madman Across The Water" to talking about Jimmy Reed.

Hmm, okay. I'd be curious to hear what he has to say about find new chord formations and all in open tunings, if he addresses that. Oh, well, I'd have to say that I can't hardly wait for the online webcast! Must be Paul's mid-western niceties too, being gracious in his comments about Tom. he wouldn't be making a playful joke at Tom's expense if he wasn't at least friendly with him. yes? no? maybe? Also, I don't think he'd really slam someone, even if a particular artist is not his cup of tea, in such a public forum like that anyway.

He didn't get into specifics about tunings and playing guitar. Mainly that he has used open tunings for a long time to try to keep from writing the same riffs and chord progressions over and over.
He also spoke about how it bites him in the ass when he goes to perform live and has to remember what tuning it was and to carry an extra guitar for it.
I thought it was pretty funny when he said he had written songs using some unknown open tuning, and later when rehearsing for a tour asked Tommy what the actual chords were.
"It's just A and D."
And being disappointed that it wasn't more complex than that.
"I guess I could have done that in any tuning"

What was his comment about Kraftwerk? I just realized he was probably making a crack about "The Craft."
