just wanted to say a few things bout the show last night,i`ve been lookin forward to the show for quite a time, excited bout a show,i`m 44 years old for gods sake,i have played folker non stop for two weeks ,seriously i musta heard it 20-30 times,i listened to it 7 times yesterday on my 450 mile round trip to the said venue.i played it to death thinkin"well this is the new album,he is surely gonna play most of it,cos we know what he is like, these will be the freshest in his head",how wrong i was,but at this point i would like to say i`m glad i have played the thing to death,it is a fantastic album,as are all his solo efforts i`m not bein blind here cos its paul, folker is awesome,i know a few on here havent been convinced but i got the impression that they really didn`t give it a chance, there are two groups i`d haul me arse anywhere to see,one is paul, and one is shack ,from liverpool, also the space between appearences is way to long, born out of the pale fountains and going strong for over twenty years, they must have only played liverpool bout 8-10 times in the 20 years, and other places in england less, they have a mats mentality but i digress,so pauls show,he played such a fantastic varied set list, but you couldnt really call it a set list cos if he played the same venue same time tonight,it would probably be a total different set,but no doubt about it he got the welcome he deserved,he is loved beyond belief by all his fans, the guy who couldn`t hold back and gave him a hug from us all,he was ridin a wave of affection which is why he called out johnny`s name, like anyone away from there kids, somehow by sayin their name its makes ya feel kinda better/closer,thats why i feel he also indiscriminently mentioned tommy and bob,he knows they woulda loved to be playin in front of people who were here just for them, sure only 15 people showed up at sheffield to see the mats, but people really wanna hear the old stuff as well, but we know paul tried to pull them together to no avail, but he tried, some or most are lucky enough to have seen the bob mats and the slim mats, weve got paul so thats enough, the songs he played were stormin,we know he`s gonna forget some words, its all part of the show, but also he has made a conscious effort to re learn songs he might of forgotten,he cant remember every one can he,so thats it,and what a night, when these things turn to memory it doesn`t matter, the fact that he came all this way,i dont know why,its an odd one,but we spent a night with him sittin on his couch, next time he should forget the bus an get a taxi,i`m sure we will pay the fare.........ta...ps thanks for the poster kathy....just waitin on the vagrant guitar now......
