is a very fine love song and one of the most beautiful songs Paul has ever written but it is NOT for the woman a man wishes to marry -- it's more for the woman he wishes he'd married instead.

I was kind of wondering if anyone else saw the irony in that. I didn't mention it, since I'm not keen on raining on someone's parade.
I think Paul's songs are vague enough to find your own interpretations.

Here's my take...for better or worse. A lot of times he'll write a song that (I think) he thinks might be misconstrued a sappy. If he thinks he's borderline sappy territory, he'll throw in something like "then you forget me, then you let me fade away" as kind of a paper tiger gesture to not overexpose himself emotionally. So, for three-quarters of a song he'll say how he feels, and then last minute back away from it. I think it's pretty effective, but for this song I listen to the first 75% and just enjoy. But I could be wrong.... (See how that works....

D2C,
I'm still kicking myself for not being there to celebrate your engagement but I took a left instead of a right last saturday and played it safe. NEVER AGAIN!!!
You chose the right song here. The sentiments expressed in "Born For Me" are perfect!
Great luck with your all's future together...Flo
