I'm sure many of you have already read this at one point, it's from Rolling Stone.com, but I think it's worth rehashing.
"spring of 86 i saw the replacements in ann arbor...it was in a theater, and the place was packed. i had 3rd row seats and got there very late because of my girlfriends pledge formal in Detroit...we left early an drove like hell back to campus...when we got there...the place was goin nuts...waitin for the mats....they eventually came on stage and asked if anyone knew how to play guitar because they didnt know where bob was. Some kid form schollkids records played...an it sounded like pure crap..they got some one else form the audience it still sucked...in the middle of a song, stinson walks on stage drinkin a heinken...an while they jammed u could see paul yellin at him..stinson took over at guitar an they still sucked...after a while they groooved and were fantastic..playin all the big anthems from Tim. they then decided to let bob sing and they did a cover of "takin care of business" during which paul and Tommy walked off an played backstage, unbeknownst to bob. AT the end everything fell apart and i think they ended with take me down to the hospital. i had a fantastic time...my girlfriend cried cuz she wanted to leave, but i loved the replacements more than her"
